What is urgent care and how does it work?

Urgent care clinics treat patients with non-life threatening illnesses or injuries who need attention quickly but don’t require an emergency room visit. Appointments are not required and urgent care centers like PromptMed Urgent Care are open 7 days-a-week with extended hours.

How is PromptMed Urgent Care different from a hospital emergency room or a family doctor’s office?

PromptMed Urgent Care is distinguished by its team of dedicated medical professionals, whose driving goal is to provide personal care right in patients’ neighborhood through extended hours seven days a week, 363 days a year (we’re closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day), in a clean and welcoming environment.  Additionally, you will find that your co-pay and any potential out-of-pocket cost to be a fraction of what it would be for the same treatment at the emergency room or hospital-affiliated urgent care.

What insurance plans does PromptMed Urgent Care accept?

While insurance is not required, PromptMed Urgent Care accepts most major commercial insurance plans as well as Medicare and Tricare.  Individual plans may differ and we recommend you consult your health insurance provider for detailed coverage information.  Depending on your plan, you may be responsible for co-payments, co-insurance or deductibles.

We currently do NOT participate with Medical Assistance/Medicaid.

What if I don’t have insurance?

No insurance?  No problem!  PromptMed Urgent Care will work with you, providing heavily discounted self-pay rates to make providing care to everyone affordable.  Rest assured the fees charged at PromptMed Urgent Care compare favorably with those in other parts of the Chicago-area and offer a dramatic savings over any local hospital emergency room or fast track unit.

What forms of payment does PromptMed Urgent Care accept?

PromptMed Urgent Care accepts cash, personal checks, and all major credit cards.  Payment is due at time of service.  Employers may call to inquire about establishing a corporate account.
